All right. >> Cheers, mate. >> Welcome back everybody. Welcome to episode 23 of PT Launch Lab. Hope everybody has had a good Christmas and you've got plans moving into this new year. And if you're watching it, this is New Year's Day, but if you're not someone that watches it as soon as it comes out, then you should [\h__\h] do that. >> Happy New Year. >> Happy New Year 2026. How are we 2025?

Obviously, we've all been together, but what have you thought about 2025? >> So, business-wise, a lot of good a lot of good new challenges. Obviously, I've shut businesses down. I've opened new businesses. Uh we started new podcasts. So a lot of exciting things sportsswise.

The boxing obviously I set out to have five fights. I had the five fights. So all in all successful 2025 there still obviously as everyone does we always want to improve every year. So I think um the idea now I've got goals in every one of these areas. hopefully get the get the nod on professional on the professional application for the boxing. >> Hopefully. >> When's that due? >> I'm thinking it's going to be probably second week of Jan. >> [\h__\h] This is rubbish it. >> Anyway, you were saying >> I know everything feels a bit offline today, doesn't it? Out way. >> I think it's just all teamu vibes, isn't it?

Catching up. Sponsored by teamu. I'm going to switch. Yeah, >> there you go. >> Get them all done for you. >> So, hoping to get the pro application back second week a jam. I'd probably say I were hoping to do it in December even though they have a like a break period.

I were hoping that I'd be like first one on pile and they were feeling generous and well rested after >> Yeah. >> after Christmas and they they have to they have to pass a few people. So, I'm hoping to be in that in that bracket. But what about yourself? >> Yeah, good. It's been it's been a bit of an exciting year. Obviously starting this we've had a lot of new avenues open up and everything that we set out to do we are achieving.

Obviously as many people watching this who has their own businesses and stuff like that. It takes time. You have diversions. You have different things that come up. But life in general is yeah it's really good.

Like this is the first year in a long time where my Christmas has been. I know it's probably been said for you where you earn Christmases when you were a kid and you don't know what day it is. You know what's going on because you've got no conception of the like world hasn't started in yet. I've had one of those Christmases and it's been fantastic. It's been one of them. >> Isa's second Christmas. >> Isa's second Christmas.

But >> but more more aware this time. >> More aware. >> They're still not fully >> Yeah. >> He's still like another year off. >> Yeah. >> You know, we don't have to put much effort in. is same. >> I've played with more stuff than she has to be fair. >> I've been I've been I've been chasing kids around with Rose got a remote control car. I've been chasing them right out of it and they're running. It's now Rose will be loud as loud as ever. She's and then run behind her. She like tries to copy her but she can't make same noise.

So yeah, we're chasing him and then Rose went and stopped at mom's yesterday but I enjoyed doing remote control car. So I just I were chasing Armin around for ages and you're running and out at room and I was just having a good time with with that. So yeah, boys will be boys. But >> yeah, that I just try try and get them toys that I can play with but they're pink. >> Which it doesn't matter at this point. Once you once you reach a fair, you don't matter what color. >> No.

Well, Maddie said Maddie said this with me in past because she goes, "Oh, I don't know." She says this, but she loves Formula 1, but we used to get cars and stuff and she loves cars. Um and she like, "Yeah, but it's not for um it's not for girls." Well, like you're literally biggest F1 fan in the world. >> Seems like hypocrite. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Even I got like >> But she said, "What about if we had a boy?" And I And I says, "Right, we're getting Barbies." And I went, "Yeah, true." >> Yeah. >> But kids do get Barbies now. Boys get Barbies. They get all they want.

I find I think it's hard now being a boy dad than a girl dad cuz it's not as if you can buy them. Like I used to get BB guns and all sort. >> No, I would. Yeah. What are you going to buy him now? >> I'm going to get I'm going to get Arash his son Jake. I'm going to get him a Nerf gun as soon as he's old enough. >> Have you seen the quality of Nerf guns now?

You can get like a fully >> semi-auto like you could see him firing out as well. That would do damage. Just like another evolution, is it? >> Yeah, that's what I want. I'm going to be like that. I want to do be that fun uncle.

I'm just going to come around with full pack of different Nerf guns and >> be like an ass of guns. >> Yeah. I'm just Yeah. Do you know like know when he has he'll have a birthday party at birthday party at Laser Quest and I'll be probably taking it serious and that's what I want to do. >> Laser 100%. >> I'd love to know laser quest. >> Did you ever do you never do >> I did a few times when I were younger but yeah I think that's a good idea as soon as Isa turns two. >> Yeah. >> I mean she didn't even know what's going on. >> No prisoners. But I'm so back to um podcast. What's our goals next year? >> Oh, ironic.

There's no wrist, but it's just fell on him. >> That fell off before. >> [\h__\h] team you again. >> Then team you nails don't work. >> I forget it on that. >> What I'll do is I'll just hold it. >> Yeah. >> Sorry, Jen. If that falls off again, I'm canceling this episode. >> Do you Do you think that's straight? >> That looks straight in that. >> My angle looks way off. It's just >> Looks all right to me. >> Yeah. Right. Let's go some form of topic then.

So our goals, we bear in mind anyone who's watching this, we haven't talked about this. So this is just straight off. >> Yeah. >> As if word vomit. So we could say someone unrealistic task or challenges. So >> how many subscribers do you want >> Joe? What >> cuz everyone's going to be watching this and they'll be track they can track it which gives me more incentive to do it.

So >> Joe, what I've realized is you know like when everyone wants to think of the viral thing 1,00 followers. I want all the subscribers to really want to watch the podcast. >> Yeah. >> So the number doesn't really matter. It's the engagement. Yeah. I want to see people just saying that I want to see this.

Yeah. Yeah. >> So, >> I know what I mean. Rather than just all your pals subscribing to make your numbers good, like genuine engagement. >> Will you share this, mate? >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> Like getting your nan to share it just talking about business. >> But yeah, I just want I want to spread the message a bit more.

I want to speak to as many people as possible because I think we can bring a lot of value to this industry and we can hear a lot of things. So, we we've got some talks, some great guests next year. Uh, Wanda I've recently talked to, she wants to come on. She uh basically works in biohacking and she knows stuff about hormone treatment, stuff like that. She's got a big conversation about the GLP1 jabs, the skinny jabs.

She wants to come on and talk about that. Like, fantastic. We've got somebody coming on who is wants to talk about his career in the music business. Like, it's evolved as well. >> Yeah. Do you know?

Do you know what? I on about this. Um I say this literally every episode. I'm going to uh I'm going to get a actual thing on it saying on about this with my dad earlier cuz I say it in every single podcast. My dad watches every one of them anyway.

But um just how it's going different ways cuz my dad likes the ones with stories. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> He likes the one that someone's got a bit of a story to tell. Um and I just think it's got a bit of something for everything. Like that's just one person's opinion.

But um well obviously we started out thinking oh we'll just do a niche to be for PTS but I'm enjoying all of it. >> Yeah. >> I I don't want to be I don't want to because we're so new to it. >> I don't want to I don't want to set like an audience that I want to go oh yeah just don't do it if you're going to be a PT or um only do it if you've got a story or you know like some are just conversations. >> Some are PT based some are business based others are just do you know what I mean? We've had we've had recovering addicts and everything. Yeah, >> it started out as a PT PT. Well, now we're going to help new PTs and all of a sudden we're talking to um people who got through addiction and >> crazy is it? >> And that's the thing. >> It's great. It's great. >> That's the best thing though because it's not about what it is.

It's about enjoying it. And I've enjoyed every conversation. I've enjoyed every person that's been on because it adds a sense of value because for me as well, I want to learn something. Like it's hard saying that you're an expert in your field and then shutting yourself off of not listening to people's stories because it makes you better and it makes you more humble. So like when Ke was in that gave me a lot more insight into K.

I knew Ke >> but I didn't know him and then I learned a lot more about him. I was surprised by everything he's went through. >> And I think people's stories >> carries a lot more lessons for people to listen to. So that yeah, I love it. I love just doing the podcast. I love I loved it a lot more than I thought it would. >> Yeah. >> You know, it's it's a lot more for me than I thought it would be. >> You know, I know we've just talked about subscription goals and that and how many people want us as subscribers, but I actually don't care at the same time. >> Yeah. >> I just really enjoy it, you know, and I think that's I think that's half the battle in it, you know.

Um >> it's the chase, isn't it? >> Just enjoy. Yeah. Like I love seeing it go up, don't get me wrong. Like I buzz every time. like just see I think we had like 89 last time I I looked and I just I thought that was ace >> you know there's people are chasing like big numbers and I think it's a lot harder say again I got that video when I was getting smacked on Edmon it's got 9.6 six million views. It's just sort of funny.

It's a bit of a thing, but to get people to tune in to an a conversation with people they don't know is very very difficult. And every single Bill and Bob down don't street are doing uh podcasts out the know. So, >> and what you find about >> I think I think the consistency is the key. They say anything over 20 podcasts. You're actually top like 5% of the podcasting world to to which is mad but it does make sense. >> I think how you find a new podcast is usually based on a topic you want to know about. >> So they have a guest on that's talking about a thing that you're interested in.

Then you follow subscribe to the podcast from that one conversation and you might find another in that topic. So, you know, you speak to that one person, someone's going to jump on to that and then you've got someone following your your journey. >> And the best part about it is it's not I mean, it is our podcast, but it's not about us. >> Yeah. >> And that's what I like. People's got the opportunity to share a story that they might not have had a platform to come on before. Even people I've spoke to, had on the podcast who's never been on a podcast like, "What? Why do you want me on the podcast?" >> Yeah. >> Why not?

Why? >> 100%. And that's um Joe Rogan says that all the time, don't he? He says, um, he just I just get people I know were interesting. You don't even need to be doesn't need to be big names. They don't need to be everyone's looking for a big name.

And he just said he would just talk to anyone that he thought had a good story. >> And I think that's same anyone who's got anything that's new, especially uh five towns area. Like there's loads of people starting new things and >> it's like the Pilates has has started doing well. anyone like that want to want to get on and and talk about it and spread business and just that one little clip could be spread further field than you think. Do you know what I mean? >> 100%. And I think why I mean this is why I think it's important for us to do it is because the business that we've got with PT Launch Lab, yes, we do other things, but the main thing is we want to build just to let people know that we're real people. And you know, there's hundreds of other companies in the UK alone offering this qualification, but you usually don't see a face and usually dealing with emails or a company just ringing every now and again.

The reason why we do this is because we want to let you know that we're real people in the industry doing things. And do you really want to work with somebody who you've never met, heard of, and you don't know who they are? We just try and let you know what those values are. and we're we're still work in progress, but we've been doing it long enough to know what works and what doesn't. So, yeah, for me it's the relation point. I want to listen to something where I get value from it and to let someone know that they're not in that boat alone. >> Yeah.

And to just on that note, mate, um if there is any gyms that want to get in touch because we offer a brilliant uh referral scheme, very very um very rewarding for yourself as a gym. Makes your business look a lot more established and professional. Um and there's obviously that commission based in there for you, which would be be great. So, if anyone just on off chance who owns a gym or knows anyone who owns a gym that might be interested, get in touch because uh I think you'll like the sound of that. It's um it's a good deal.

Let's say that. >> Yeah, we're having a lot of conversations about working with different people. I mean, we want to offer as much value as possible and that means trying to talk to as many different businesses and different companies as possible. >> We want to we want we want we want 20 gyms on board with us by end of January. >> I like to say all all the goals on here on the podcast, >> it makes me want to hit them because everyone who's watching Yeah. Uh, everyone is supporting. Um, they're s watching us build our businesses. They're building theirs.

Obviously, we've been in business. Like, I've been self-employed since I was 17. So, I'm used to building businesses, but I like setting goals. I like seeing uh what's achievable, what ain't, when I fall short. Also, correcting the mistakes and and improving next time.

But, yeah, we want to be on for 20 20 gyms. Definitely doable. It's all just a numbers game for me, that one. >> What's your personal goals for 2026? We'll see um depending next two weeks on sport specific. So I want at least three professional fights if not back in amateurs again till I'm 40.

I don't know. Um business I honestly I'm very much take it as it comes. I've got no no big goals. cuz I want be as healthy as I can, best dad I can, but most um present dad I can when I when I get the time. Make more time for family. Um just make sure I'm doing all the right things, >> you know, just not having any regrets.

Keep chasing the dreams. Um but I'm quite openminded as well. I like to see where things go. Like I'm there's no personal goal for moving. Just keep keep chasing it what I'm doing.

Keep improving at the work. keep putting all my effort into things like this. Stay away from drink. >> Yeah. >> Uh just little things like that. I always do like six month beginning year doing anything or whatever. Do you know what I mean? So I'm fasting from tomorrow. >> Yeah.

Just going to do three days I think. >> Just a good little restart and then I'm straight into um straight into fight camp. So but yeah, my goals are quite vague. I'd like to think a different door can open at any time. I don't like to set goals as such. Like obviously sport-wise I can set goals but with a business as long as I feel like I'm putting 100% effort in and I'm always doing something to just keep improving I think it's consistency over time like you see uh big changes but what do you what what about you? >> Yeah.

So I think well from starting off next year I want to dabble towards some maybe strength comps. Um speaking with Neil about it I want to give it a go. Not sure on dates yet, but start of the year I'm going to get a little bit lighter, cut down a little bit, and then just see what my strength's like, see what I can achieve with that because I've been lifting for that many years, and now I'm starting to go with a point. >> I'm getting I've got a bit of a fire for it. So, I'm going to go try that. Um, there might be some other things that I might do, >> but basically just keep moving towards crafting that and doing stuff like that.

Would you say would you say more of your more of your goals well more specific goals around sport? >> Yeah. Um and also >> do you think it transfers so much over to your to your business anyway once you So I think a lot of it comes from the movement in the in the body though you know just >> doing some anything if I've got routine in me training. I seem to have more routine in me life. >> Yeah. because it gives you that sense of discipline, you know, if you're if you're that dedicated to doing because training for us now is like breathing. No matter what discipline you're in, >> it's not about that you have to get it in. It's just part of your blood and you feel worse if you don't. >> I've just I've just done that boxing today and I've literally at biscuits, chocolate, everything bad you could have eaten over Christmas. >> We're still in that weird period where you can get away with it. >> Yeah, we got one day left.

We eat some >> less than 12 hours, we can do some serious damage. >> Yeah, I think I So, to be fair, that's given me a bit of um a little bit of a light bulb moment cuz I wanted to run want to run a marathon >> and I want to get I don't know which is the most challenging thing for this is actually doing a triathlon or getting my brother to do the triathlon because we've I spoke about it. >> Get J. Yeah, we touched on it the other day um about doing something and I said I'd love for him to just get involved with that and he said he wanted something to be chasing. >> So I says we'll do that and he and he were open to idea. That's first time >> in years where I've got him chomping at something where >> where I feel like we might get him here. So I'm hoping that I'd love to train with him and do a uh do a competitive run and do like a sprint triathlon then a proper triathlon Olympic size triathlon. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> So that would be good.

But like I said, I don't know what's going to be the harder the harder challenge doing it or getting him to do it. So, >> it might be worth touching with Matty or Luke and see which one they want you to do. >> Yeah, absolutely. >> Do you do you go to a specific coach for that then to get ready for that or is he just sort of just cracking on? >> Yeah, to be if anyone I'd go to John Wat for that. >> John's the man. He's the he's Iron Man still in his 60s doing Iron Man's is an absolute beast as a legend as well. So it's nicest bloke in world. Crazy amounts of knowledge as well.

So yeah, between that and I'd still be boxing. >> So I still be with Neil. >> That's the main goal with it. >> Yeah, 100%. So I've always wanted to be able to like I was still squatting 120 on Monday and I still had some left in me. >> So I want to be able to squat deadly press like a good healthy amount. Like I'll still do I think I'm only only did like 90 kg on incline bench but I've not been lifting any weights. >> So 120 squat like I said I've got some left in me on that as well. And then I want to be able to run a half marathon and I want to be able to box and I want just that overall want to be a beast everywhere. So I'm I'm open to be that fit I can just >> raw dog straight into triathon just over practice some swim but getting swimming more which is can be good for recovery good for fitness whichever way you want to put it in like training for anything I can do boxing steady like running so it's a probably a better example I can do a steady state run I can do a I can do sprints I can do long it's the same with swimming I'd like to get better at swimming like that as well so >> yeah gives you opportunity to try new things as well >> yeah Yeah, >> load.

There's loads of stuff I want to do. And that's what that's a good thing. That's why I want to get as much in it with this boxing as I can. Well, I can because I've got loads of goals for like later in my life. And I'll keep doing them like like yourself when you said you feel like you want to do something every month.

Um what? Well, towards back in the year, didn't you said you did try you did the half marathon yourself and things like that. And I love little goals and I've always got to be doing something like seasonal. I've got to be achieving. There's always got to be something. >> Yeah.

There's got to be some type of thing on the >> Yeah. Like in in in the summer in summer where there's time off with amateurs, I'm looking I'm we'll do a half marathon >> and I've always got a chase. I've always got a goal. If not, I'm just I can't I've got no focus. I feel like I'm wasting life. >> Yeah. >> I'm really really I'm really goal driven in that sense.

So even though like I said with me work I'm always pushing towards something. I think the sport side of it speaks most to me. I mean, we're all different, but for me, as long as I'm achieving goals, I feel like I'm moving forward. >> Yeah. It's mental clarity. I think I think personal trainers, anybody who's into fitness can attest to that as well, because the day that you're supposed to train and you don't, even when you're resting or whatever, whatever type of discipline and training you're doing, it's a therapy and it's like a reset. is putting yourself back in that place of right this is normal for me >> and I think that's what the hardest part is like I struggle like the Christmas break has been fantastic >> but because the wheels have been turning you're almost nervous to jump back into it all so like we've got a big year ahead of us >> and I I'm counting down the days until >> and I'm just thinking to myself >> am I building myself up like this anxiousness of letting go of this like still state that's going on Um certainly I've started hard training again this week.

That's my first few hard training sessions. But it's reset me now. I feel better. Yeah. You know what I mean? >> 100%. >> And I think I think that's how you've got to be.

You've got to like we always we always joke when >> we backs up against the wall that pressure makes diamonds. But it does. It forces you to be your best. And that's where you need to work from. I feel like um I feel like as a PT as well, anyone who's a PT watching, I just think it looks good that when that you're challenging yourself or like you've got to be the example for me.

I always say like for the lads, I've had most most fights in a year that Jim's >> as a team has had and I like to lead from the front and like John Wats even said the same. He said, I don't think a coach should be able to give you something that you can't do yourself. which not for everyone, but I I love the mentality of that. >> I think it's more important, especially in combat sports because a lot of people that are coming to you without sounding over the top, they're putting their lives on the line. >> I want a bit one running at side of them though, pulling them on, do you know? Like if we're like, so I've got couple of lads trying to get into the army at minute >> and they've got to run x amount of time, x amount of distance in x amount of time. Um, and I'm running with them and I'm dragging them. So I'm I'm pacing up. >> 2.4K running 12 minutes in it. >> Yeah.

Yeah. I think it's 2k in 10 2k in 10 minutes now which >> I could do no problem really like I mean if like I'm heavier at minute and stuff but I can still I can still reckon I can manage that especially if it were on day you know just one beast in or whatever and I think they'll do the same but if they're not used to running >> you know what I mean they used to vape these two lads on that as well and >> do you know what I mean done lad struggle like I got them off vaping anyway like um so >> got them both that got both boxing. But um yeah, I I'm running with a with my pacer on as well. That's what what basically what I'm what I'm getting at is um I'm leading from front. I'm running I'm right when he's up it now foot on once we this corner we're going to sprint to next bit.

Do you know what I mean? And making sure the pace is in. So I want them to get in the army and that's what pursuing career. They've come to me. I mean they come to him with zero time.

They'll be like, "Oh, it's three weeks away and all right, I do what we can." But um >> yeah, but they they've come they've come to me again. It's an time of year to train, but if you've got the goal, that could be the f that could be their future for next four or five years. The career could be in the army and there's no time to have off over Christmas if you're doing that. >> You need to be training. You need to take it serious. Like genuinely, your career's at stake here.

Like if not, you could be stacking shelves. Do you know what I mean? >> But that's why that's there for the army in it because it's given you a a sense of you need to do this. This is your right to do this. >> Um especially during co I mean I did it for the Navy during co >> and that was my only focus that got me through co and it worked. So I know that the pressure of something like that and the date that's what it's there for and that's what it gets you through. So I think that's the job as a personal trainer.

I think it's to help people figure out what they want to do. And if they do know what they want to do, we're there to support them, but we're not there to molly >> cod. Yeah. And I also like idea when they say, "Oh, I'm thinking about doing this. I've done one of them. >> I've done this.

I've done that." Cuz I mean, the resume of like I want not to be able to be an expert in any because I feel like you can't be an expert in them all. Do you know what I mean? Like just pick one that you want to specialize in for sure. We've talked about that before and I'll always point them in direction. But just to they can see how much experience you've got as a whole. >> Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> Between all these sports. And I think you can always you can always pick little lessons from each one. And no matter what what you do, whether it be boxing, there's something that you can take from from a running program or or a strength aspect. >> Yeah. >> Do you know what I mean?

So there's always a there's always something you can take from everything. And also on that note as well, just I I get little golden nuggets of each coach I'm with >> and they'll all give me a little bit of advice that'll stick with me forever and I just keep going going round going around. I'll just hear these little pieces and I can use it as my knowledge as well. Obviously that's how we all learn. Um >> it's been among people who know more than you. >> Yeah, of course.

But pe people not just >> not just uh internet knowledge or AI knowledge, experience knowledge, practical knowledge and that's what I think um that's what I think difference is and I love hearing the story behind it and how they got to know it or how they got to trial and test it cuz >> AI still makes mistakes mate for now. >> Oh yeah. >> I What did I ask you the other day? go with it. Um, how many royalties does Slade still get for the, you know, for the Christmas song? And they get uh 500 grand a year still royalties every year. But then when I put in a list for the top ones, it it said underneath slayed around u estimated 1 million a year, >> right? >> So it were already off. >> It were already off. So yeah, randomiz out that it Yeah. >> Yeah.

Yeah. No, it's true. people. >> How much Mariah Carey gets? >> Go on. >> 2.5 to 3.5 million in royalties a year. >> I'm going to stop [\h__\h] playing that song, >> mate. All we got to do All WE HAVE TO DO ALL WE HAD TO DO was just make a Christmas song instead of doing this podcast. Make a Christmas song. >> Let's just see if it makes a difference to her life. She wants to bring out a new song.

If you want to hear Mariah Carey again, stop listening to it. Guarantee you she'll make a new song. >> Yeah, >> that's crazy. Yeah. >> Yeah. >> I mean, the easier ways. I've thought about Only Fans a few times. I think people are paying me to stop it >> 100%. >> Put your [\h__\h] feet away. >> But yeah, it's um 2026.

One thing I'd say, don't go in with it with the intention of smashing all these different things. Um especially as life gets on like I turned 30 this year and I got a very big realization is you can only achieve what you actually want to achieve. You know like you get all these new year people goals. I mean I looked out of my window yesterday and in the past five minutes I saw six people running and I know out of those six people one might stick it >> but everyone just gets gets towards January like right I'm going to start running then I'm going to start doing this. I'm going to start doing all my business goals.

I'm going to start late. Do >> you know I feel I feel like everyone's doing the same thing right now is sorry everyone go. So what I think everyone's doing this year and it's only this year that started doing it. It's been making me laugh. Everyone's starting a week early.

So they're not part of the January crew. But you're still >> But you're still doing it. >> Same thing. >> Everyone's going everyone's going I'm not waiting till Jan. I'm starting now. But it's like literally a week after Christmas. >> So then uh I didn't start in Jan. I started in December.

You're like, "Come on, it's a copper." >> If you if you want to be truly different, start in February. >> Yeah. >> But yeah, it's uh I always love I always love it that time of year. People that you've never seen run and they're automatically just running. >> But like it's a Exactly. >> It is a good thing. >> It's a good thing, but again, I've talked about it before. Set it can set you up for a bad So you'll do a good jam and then it can send you down a a terrible spiral. You know, if you're doing like dry jam. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> And then February is chaos. >> Yeah. >> Do you know what I mean?

But um at the same time, people who start training, there's more they're more likely to either carry on training or come back to it at some point. >> Yeah. >> If they've never done it before. >> Yeah. And probably what I'd say if you're just starting your fitness journey, and this is one of the best piece of advice I personally could give somebody is don't go at it balls to the wall. Don't think I'm going to be going to the gym. I'm going to lower me calories. I'm going to do this.

I'm going to do that. Just pick one thing to start with. And I'd personally say before you start trying to think about track calories and stuff because I think that's the it's the best side. That's one that's going to get you results. But go to the gym first, find what you like to do and then apply what you're doing to that. >> Even if it's not the gym, even if it's running, start small.

Yeah. build those little wins up, >> mate. I've uh >> avoid burnout. >> I've had this conversation a million times. Exactly what you're saying. I still have this conversation to this day and it's exactly what you've said. If you start it all together, so I'm I'm eating well, I'm training, right?

So, what happens when you have a bad meal? Don't train. What happens when you miss a training session? Bad meal. If you stop one, you stop the other and you stop it all and it's too much too fast.

You need to just start enjoy it. >> Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. >> Get into it. patient with yourself. So what I always think everyone tries to rush like you said first month especially hit it too hard this don't chase a result too quick because if you think about it rather than training for I want to do this in this you training for the rest of your life there's no rush >> do something that's manageable and what else people they try every day go from nothing to everything and they get burnout like set amount of days three days day on, day off, day on, day off, easy day, hard day, whatever you want to do. But um trying to trying to avoid that burnout and then also you you do stop enjoying it, don't you?

When you're like that all the time and you think it's not realistic to fit into your schedule. So then you start moving stuff or you need something that fits your routine whether it's around your work uh shift pattern or whatever whatever ro you've got. You need something that works that's maintainable. >> Yeah. Yeah. Don't treat it like a solution.

Treat it like it's just another part of your life. >> Yeah. Just build some good build some good habits. Don't matter about how long you spend at gym as well. There's people who spend two hours in gym and people who spend 20 minutes and sometimes they do the same amount of work. You know what I mean?

So >> for me it's also a message to pts out there. Don't start rubbing your ants together because it's January and you'll be like a this is where I'm going to clean up and get these clients because people are going to come in with these intentions. Be realistic about it. Approach them realistically. say, "Look, let's start you off nice and easy." Because again, profile and go >> and you and you'll be able to tell a P you'll be able to tell a new starter PT straight from your first session because they'll try and beast you and I did it myself. So for for quite a few years and they come in and the beast you are too too too hard, too soon, puts you off.

Uh so make sure people just they get broken slow. Yeah, >> it's manageable, enjoyable, but also it keeps them chasing for more because think you know what I can do that gives them that bit of belief and then when you can everyone's got different tolerances as well to whether it be to pressure or difficulty um the way you encourage some people >> some people you could literally tell them that they're doing [\h__\h] and they'll and they'll go and they'll up it. Some people you tell them [\h__\h] and the burst of tears you know what I mean? So you've got to be uh you've got to be adaptable. You've got to be able to read the character good.

Um, obviously you never say that to anyone that you just started training anyway. Um, unless you're very confident. >> Yeah. Yeah. I've Yeah, you see it all the time to be fair. Again, like you said yourself, you've done it.

I've done it. I think you realize what people actually need rather than what they want because again you go in with a mindset of well I motivate myself doing this but you're not the same place as them right now. >> Just give them a little bit of comfort and let them know they're not on their own but >> it goes for anybody and I'll just say this now. Don't think that you're going to sweep up as a PT in January. Um you'll be all right initially. Don't drop your prices.

Just because it's January doesn't mean that you need to be charging 15 quid an hour. People see right through it. People are going to be with you until you put your prices back up. So yeah, that's that's my bit of advice for PZs in January. Just business as usual and give people realistic outcomes.

I >> think that's a good way to um wrap it up, brother. >> Yeah. Uh what you doing New New Year's Day? Got any plans? >> No. Far as spiring. Nice fasting. >> What a fantastic way to spend >> fasting, sparring.

Start as you mean to go on a lot about you. >> Yeah, probably go we always go for a nice New Year's Day big long walk. >> Bit of training. Get rid of all the Christmas [\h__\h] and show the house looks nice. >> That's what M just facetime me now with all Christmas stuff away. >> Well, I'm hoping to be out when it happens in my house as well. >> Yeah. So, I just need to put it in lofts. Happy days. >> Well, yeah. Well, happy new year to you, mate. >> Happy New Year, mate. >> Happy New Year to everybody.

Happy new year everyone. >> See you in 2026.
